Delivering Dreams Since 1990

Every person has their own unique and special dream of health. Many of us never get to realise that dream. At ChimpTamer we aim to fix that. We specialise in turning dreams into reality. With a focus on health, fitness and an increased quality of life we'll work tirelessly with you to achieve your goals.

Your dream might be to finally look and feel the way you want to. It might be to run your first parkrun, your first marathon, finish your first Ironman. It might be to cycle the length of the UK (and back). Or climb a mountain. Or trek (or run) across the desert. Or get that ideal job. It might be to simply be there for your kids and grandkids and set the best example of health for them that you can.

All of these things and more are within your grasp. Perhaps you've tried and failed. Perhaps failure has become a habit. The good news is that with a little help you can turn things around.

We can help you to develop the right attitudes, habits and mindset to make it happen. We can help you get the most out of your body and your mind.

You were born amazing, let us remind you of that.

Healthy Habits

Being healthy isn't just about eating salad for lunch and going to the gym twice a week. The foods we eat play a massive part in how healthy we are so nutrition forms a big part of our coaching. Physical activity is a close second. In the minefield of contradictory science and media misrepresentation its easy to get confused and head down an unhealthy path. We will guide you through the very simple habits that will give you a big improvement in your daily life.

"There’s a way to do it better. Find it."

- Thomas Alva Edison

Body Recomposition

Overfat? Understrong? Most of us (even the skinny ones) are likely carrying too much body fat and not enough lean muscle mass to be healthy. We can help move you forwards to become strong and lean. This isn't bodybuilding. Its Body Recomposition.

"No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable."

- Socrates

Endurance Sports

For those who literally want to go the extra mile. Whether you're a runner, a cyclist, a swimmer, a triathlete, a kayaker, a hiker, a climber or any of a long list of other sports that require more than a couple of minutes to participate you'll be an endurance athlete. This is our speciality. We do all those things as well and can help to guide you to greater achievements in your chosen sports.

"But I love it – I can run, man. I’m not speedy but I can go long distances."

- Liam Gallagher

Navigation skills play an increasing role in many endurance sports and are gaining in popularity. Many events and races are on marked courses but many are not. More and more often we see kit lists that include carrying a map and compass. Its one thing to carry these things but do you really know how to use them? Could you find your way off a bleak moorland in thick fog? Could you do it when you're tired? Do you even know which way up to hold the map (it might not be as obvious as you think)?

“I'm not lost for I know where I am. But however, where I am may be lost.”

- AA Milne

Avoiding Ageing

We all get older. That's a basic change rooted firmly in classical physics. What we don't have to do is get old. The physical signs of ageing aren't as firmly set as you might think. Eating healthy foods, regularly exercising and maintaining a lowered stress environment can all help to reduce the normal effects of getting older. There's no rule to say we have to get sicker, less mentally agile, less able to run up mountains. The passing of time isn't as linear and inevitable as you think.

“...inside every old person is a young person wondering what happened.”

- Terry Pratchett

Races, training camps, retreats, talks, weekend breaks, guided hiking/running/cycling, expeditions and a range of other events. These are the things we enjoy doing ourselves. Either under our own banner or through carefully selected partner organisations we arrange many different activities. If you don't see something that you like the sound of then let us know - we may be already planning it.

Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.

- Albert Einstein
