My First Navigation Lesson
2 Days - £99
This is the course you need if you've never had any navigation training. Aimed at the complete novice we'll work through all the basic skills you need to read common maps, plan suitable routes, understand how your compass works, pick the right paths to follow and all the other basic skills to make for a grand day out in the countryside.
2 Days - £129
Following on from the beginners' course you will learn more advanced navigation techniques which will allow you to be safe in the hills even when there are no paths. You'll be able to find your way in low visibility conditions (fog, rain, darkness etc). You'll be able to make better decisions based on more accurate knowledge of where you are and what is around you.
The Total Navigator
5 Days - £259
A combination and extension of the shorter courses. This option will take you from navigation zero to navigation hero in an intensive 5 days.
Our navigation courses are non-residential but if you need local accommodation we can suggest suitable places nearby.
Staff ratios are typically 1:8 - if you have a larger number contact us to discuss your requirements.
We also offer a number of additional course options including hill safety and dealing with emergencies, running in remote places, rock climbing, adventure racing skills, leadership and team building. These are typically arranged on a bespoke basis to suit the location and requirements of our clients.
These course are mostly practical in nature and require a basic level of fitness as well as for each participant to have the equipment listed below.
Sturdy footwear appropriate to the conditions
Suitable clothing for the conditions (including a spare long sleeved top)
Waterproof jacket and trousers (even in the summer it could rain)
Hat and gloves
Rucksack to carry all kit (35ltr packs should suffice)
Map and compass (please check which maps are required for the region and see our compass guide for suitable compass options)
Personal First Aid Kit
